Art Deco

Inspired by Art Deco cinemas, cocktail culture and the golden age of hollywood costume, our new collection explores contrasting gold and silver, graphic silhouettes and flashes of sparkle. Reinterpreted through the SIGLA lens, familiar Deco motifs are transformed into wearable pieces with a touch of drama.

'I am writing this looking out towards the Manhattan skyline. A cluster of towers, each rising in its own rhythm of setbacks and shoulders, climbing toward a peak before stepping back down again, their windows cascading in glassy sheets like theatre curtains. By night the city rewires itself into thousands of jewelled rectangular lights, flickering and shifting, a restless constellation pinned to the grid.

Walking through Midtown Manhattan, the older signage still carries the bones of Art Deco. The lettering is stretched long and vertical, certain lines run thick, others taper into zigzags, sunbursts and chevrons, each stroke narrowing to a confident point, as if the letters themselves were trying to scrape the sky the way the buildings do. That same pull toward drama and form found its expression in the jewellery of the era. A mastery of proportion and movement turned a plain dress into an occasion, or lent a room a sliver of drama the instant someone walked in wearing the right piece. Jewellery became a kind of punctuation mark, the detail that made an outfit, or even an evening, feel complete.

SIGLA's new collection draws from the architecture, design, cinema and adverts of that eclectic era. From a cinema façade lit against the night, to the confident, unhurried lines of a grand hotel lobby, all polished marble and geometric screens. From the cold gleam of a chrome Bugatti idling outside a hotel entrance, to the poised, unbothered glamour of a woman photographed mid-stride in furs, a cigarette holder in one gloved hand. Across earrings, rings and brooches, these Deco motifs are reinterpreted through SIGLA's own lens: sleek silhouettes, contrasting metals, the ghost of a Deco heavy curtain or a tiled floor, bold gemstone geometry and sweeping curves, finished in emerald, sapphire and champagne.'
